Hi, I'm Rachel, the owner and operator of Femme Gemz, mama of two baby boys, entrepreneur, wife, dental hygienist, and expert balancer of all things.Working with me, you get all of me!- I started Femme Gemz 4 years ago because I couldn’t shut off this strong urge for freedom that I was craving.- One of my proudest milestones to this day is quitting my dental hygiene position to dive into Femme Gemz full time. Also, birthing children, big milestone.- I started clinical dental hygiene as my career over a decade ago, I knew I wanted to find a way to work for myself. I just didn’t know how.-Building Femme Gemz from the bottom up, has been the hardest yet rewarding thing I have accomplished so far.​My journey with Forever Jewelry started in early 2022. I saw it on the internet just like you and found an online training that I could afford. I give my all in everything I do so I saddled up and trained with virtual modules day after day.   • Is Femme Gemz responsible for the manufacturing of the welding equipment?
    No, we have partnered with Sunstone and they manufacturer and supply our equipment - if you purchase your discounted machinery with Femme Gemz, you’ll receive everything directly from Sunstone! Along with a warranty.
  • What are they made of?
    The crystals are lead-free glass, the lab opals are silica and resin, and the gold charms range from 18k – 24k white or yellow gold.
  • How are they applied?
    They are applied to the surface of your teeth with a dental adhesive system; very similar to how an orthodontic bracket is placed. No drilling or pain!
  • Can they be applied with retainers?
    They can be placed around wire-style retainers, and most night guards, but not under active alignment therapy. Please bring your appliance with you to your appointment so we can be sure! I also love decorating aligners if you are in active alignment therapy!
  • Anything else?
    Gems can only be placed on natural teeth (enamel). If interested in a applying gems on non natural tooth structure, we can only use a temporary clear solution that can be removed yourself and will last 2 weeks or so!
  • How long do tooth gems last?
    Tooth gems are semi-permanent and last anywhere from 2 months to a year, sometimes longer!
  • Do they damage teeth?
    They don’t damage teeth! When properly placed & removed, and properly cared for, they are harmless to tooth enamel.
  • What is tooth gem aftercare?
    Do not touch your gem or play with it right after application. Do not eat for atleast an hour. You can drink water right after! Eat softer foods for 12 hours following. Do not use electric toothbrush on that tooth for 12 hours. Make sure you visit the dentist twice a year!
  • How are they removed?
    Tooth gems eventually fall off on their own. They can also easily be removed by a dental professional. You should never attempt to remove your own gems.
  • Do I really need to sit for 80 minutes?
    No, you do not. Your treatment consists of 4 back-to-back 15-20 minute treatments. You rinse every 15-20 minutes allowing for a break if you so choose to take one (and we will always ask) before you reapply and sit for another 15-20 minutes. You are encouraged to play on your phone, watch TV, bring your laptop etc. and will be right there to make sure the light and your smile are positioned accurately.
  • How do I know which treatment to choose?
    Depending on whether you’ve professionally whitened within the past year, how stained your teeth are currently, and the nature of your daily habits that cause additional staining (smoking, coffee, red wine, etc.) Femme Gemz t will recommend anywhere from a 30 minute to an 80 minute treatment. 60 or 80 minute treatments are suggested for all first time clients. Once we get you white, you’ll be doing 30-45 minute touch-up sessions (half the time - half the price).
  • How old do you have to be to whiten and can you do it white pregnant or breastfeeding?
    You can whiten as young as 14 with a guardian’s signature. It is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women, as nothing is tested on pregnant or breast feeding women to know that answer for sure. We typically say no to pregnant women. If breast feeding, feel free to discuss it with your doctor.
  • How often can I whiten?
    Our process is formulated so you can whiten as often as you’d like. Some people are every 2-3 months, 4-6months, while those people with NO staining habits last even a year or more before returning. It really comes down to what you prefer. As mentioned before, we are the best option for maintaining a bright white smile all year long. Especially if you are the type to be a regular whitener. Touch-ups at half the time (30-45mins) and half the price ($99-$149) make this a very convenient & affordable option.
  • How much whiter will my teeth get and how long will last?
    We all have our own “genetic maximum white”, however, even your maximum white is usually much whiter than our current shade. If you’ve professionally whitened before, you may know yours. Other than that, depending on staining, genetics, and individual enamel client results range from a significant difference in the shade to a bright white reveal. Your new smile lasts as long as you maintain them. If it stains your clothes will stain your teeth, so if you think about it that way they will stain again. However, with the proper maintenance you can prolong your results. It really comes down to staining habits and personal preference. Someone who regularly stains their teeth (smoking, red wine & coffee consumption, etc) will have to whiten more regularly than someone who does not have those habits IF they want to be white all the time.
  • I have sensitive teeth, will this be uncomfortable?
    No, sensitivity is very rare if so, its minimal and able to be managed with my take home products which are also available before your treatment too! Take home products contain carbamide peroxide and cause severe permanent damage to the surface of your enamel causing sensitivity, ours does not. This is because the carbamide peroxide in them breaks down into hydrogen peroxide while you wear it, having a chemical reaction on the surface of your enamel. We offer a safer and much more effective method using hydrogen peroxide. All packages also include a remineralization treatment as well. This restores your enamel post-whitening making your teeth stronger and alleviating sensitivity going forward.
  • I have false teeth (crowns/veneers/bonding), will this process whiten them as well?
    Our whitening treatment will remove any staining that has occurred since your crown/filling/veneer etc. was delivered, however, the original color will not change as it is not made of natural enamel. Clients with artificial teeth or bonding often whiten with us. We use the “paint-on” method specifically so that we can customize each treatment to your personal preference. We can either not surpass the color of the artificial tooth but still continue to whiten the natural enamel if needed. (This enhances your overall appearance by revealing EVEN white smile.) Or we can go big or go home and whiten to your “maximum white”. Your dentist can then replace the crown, filling, etc. with matching bonding at your next visit.
  • How can you whiten my teeth without being in a dental office?
    Guess what? I am a dental professional! I am a seasoned Dental Hygienist licensed in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Professional teeth whitening is regularly practiced outside of a dentists’ office in a “client administered” form. Femme Gemz is technically a retail business. This means we will give you all of the product, tools, expertise, and supervision - you will just paint the gel onto your enamel yourself. We do not touch you at all throughout the process.
  • Are the products safe?
    Yes. Our products are sourced from laboratories located SOLELY in the USA. We go above and beyond using more than one manufacturer as to not comprise the integrity of our specially formulated process. Your oral safety is our utmost priority.
  • What is the difference between your product and the whitening product my dentist offers?
    The main difference is the percentage of peroxide used, the intensity of the light, and the damage caused by the harsh chemical compound or overnight use. Although ours is lower than that of dental grade, it is much less abrasive on enamel and less damaging to the gums and soft tissue. If you really think about it.. Should anything sit on your enamel for an extended period of time? Both ours and a dental grade product do the exact same thing and yield the same result. Take our founder’s advice, no extremely harsh chemical is going to be “healthier” or more effective just because a dentist sold it to you.
  • Where will my whitening treatment take place?
    You can whiten at our studio or book a mobile appointment. A $25 travel fee applies to mobile appointments and increases depending on your distance from our main location (10+ mi, 25+ mi, etc). A full fee schedule is available upon request. We can accommodate all appointments types and party sizes.
  • Grillz for females!

  • Do you need straight teeth to get a grill?
    We can work with most people who have crooked teeth. The grillz are typically based on an impression of your teeth and will be made based off that. If you would like to have the teeth straightened, please contact us to see if we can work with you.
  • How long do the grillz last?
    The custom sets are made from solid yellow gold, solid white gold or solid rose gold, so you can be sure that the grillz will never fade. They will last a lifetime as long as you clean and take care of the grillz as you would with any other jewelry. In order to get the most out of your grillz, we recommend you do not eat, drink, or smoke with them in. This will help the grillz last longer because they are not exposed to harmful chemicals, fluids and heat that may damage them.
  • 10k, 14k, 18k and 24k Gold: what’s the difference?
    In the gold market, different types of gold karats are available which may confuse you when choosing your best option for your grill. 18K Gold: Advantages and Disadvantage Advantages:- One of the greatest options for grillz, engagement ring, wedding band, or other fine jewelry piece is 18K gold. 18K gold has a richer, warmer color than 10K and 14K gold due to its 75 percent gold content, making it a wonderful choice if you want your setting to have a rich, stunning color tone. When we set mini-opals in our grillz, we only use 18K Gold because the metal is soft enough to set the small opals. If you were to try to set the mini opals in 10K or 14K, they would shatter because the opals are very fragile, unlike diamonds. Disadvantages:- More expensive than 14k or 10k gold and it is also easy to scratch. 14K Gold: Advantages and Disadvantages Advantages: Despite being the affordable choice, 14k gold is just as elegant as the other metals. It's our recommended option for all diamond grillz or any gold jewelry featuring other gemstones. 14K gold is a gorgeous and long-lasting metal that is also reasonably priced. Personal choice, skin tone, and current trend should all play a role in the gold hue you choose. Disadvantages:- Although more expensive than 10K gold, it is still a reasonable investment. 10K Gold: Advantages and Disadvantages Advantages:- The most affordable quality of gold for grillz and other jewelry is 10K gold. It's also the most durable. If you purchase your gold grillz from an experienced grillz manufacturer and gold caster, the 10K Yellow Gold will look identical to 14K Yellow Gold. Disadvantages:- In terms of looks, 10K is the least sought after yellow gold grillz option. There is also a noticeable color difference and weight when comparing 10K to 18K gold: 18K is much denser and will be around 30% heavier.
  • Is it safe to eat with your grill?
    Are you curious if you can eat with a grill? The answer is yes and no. Yes, you physically can eat with your grill on, but it is not advised for a number of reasons: -Eating with your grill on will make your grill dirty. -Eating with your grill on can cause your gold teeth to get scratched from rough foods -Eating with your grill will allow bacteria to get between your grill and your teeth and will cause cavities. -It is highly recommended that you take your grill off whenever you eat. After investing money into creating a custom grill piece, you should do your best to take care of the gold teeth by taking them off before you eat so you can keep the grill looking fresh and brand new. It is also recommended that you clean your teeth in between eating and putting your grill back on. You want to make sure there is not any food or bacteria stuck between your teeth and the gold because this will irritate your enamel and lead to an increase in the possibility of you having cavities. Again, it is completely up to you if you want to eat with your grill on, but dental experts highly recommend against it in order to preserve your teeth and keep your grill looking fresh!
  • Still deciding on if you should buy a grill?
    The quick and easy answer is “Yes, you should absolutely get a grill! Grillz are a great way to express your individuality and also add a flair to your wardrobe.” The majority of individuals are unsure about wearing a grill. They want to wear a grill, but they have a lot of questions when it comes to getting them: Is it bad to wear a grill? When it comes to grillz, how long do they last? Is it true that a grill hurt your gums? How much does a grill cost? Is wearing a grill worth it? etc. You should absolutely get a grill if you want to stand out and be noticed in this crowd. The best way to get started is by working with Femme Gemz and we will make sure you have an amazing shopping experience and are in love with the finished piece!
  • What is the turn around time like?
    For custom sets, your first appointment entails consult and a detailed double impression. I will send you an invoice that week with balance and deposit required. After deposit is made, we can start fabricating your grill! Turn around usually is 2-3 weeks. For more custom detailed work sometimes 4-6 weeks.
  • How do grillz stay on the teeth?
    Most people who do not own grillz wonder “How do you put a grill on” and "how to fit my grill". The secret to having the grill fit perfectly comes down to getting a good mold of your teeth and working with an experienced grill manufacturer. The Grill should fit directly on top of your teeth and should be snug and stay on properly from the pressure of the gold on each side of your teeth. Custom grillz, also called removable grillz from a trusted manufacturer should comfortably fit over your natural teeth and act as a functional fashion accessory. In essence, the grill will slide directly on top of your natural teeth and will grip your teeth from the front side and the backside by applying pressure to the walls of your teeth. Wearing a grill should not cause pain to your teeth, nor should the grill move your teeth. A well-made set of grillz should fit on top of your teeth snugly and should not fall off when you talk with the grill on. While it may take a little bit to get comfortable speaking with the grill on, the grill should not hurt your teeth, move your teeth, or easily fall off your teeth. Remember, when putting removable grillz on your teeth, they should slip on top of your natural teeth (applying a little bit of pressure) and the grill should comfortably fit because of pressure that is applied by the gold to the front side and back side of your teeth. While you ideally want the grillz to fit snugly on your teeth so they do not move or fall off when you talk, if they are made too tight they will cause pain to your teeth and can even adjust the positioning of your teeth over time. When you put on your custom grill pieces, it should just require a little push to securely get them on top of your teeth. If you are experiencing any pain or discomfort or if the grill is falling off your teeth or moving around too much, we recommend you contact us immediately to get the issue resolved so you can comfortably put your grill on your teeth.
  • Which gold is most suitable for a grill?
    The type of gold used in a grill has a great impact on how it looks, feels, and longer. Above all, making the proper decision can help you get the most bang for your dollars. For a consumer on a budget, 10K Gold is the best option because it will look identical to the 14K gold grill, and cost substantially less. 18K Gold is the ideal choice for anyone who wants to order 18K Yellow Gold Grill with mini-opals or any solid gold grill with no gemstones.
  • What materials are used for custom removable grillz?
    Our Custom Fitted Grillz are made from either 10K solid gold, 14K solid gold, 18K solid gold or 22k solid gold. These grillz are the real deal and are made custom to each person based off the impression of your teeth. Because these grillz are custom made, there is the freedom to choose from the different materials we offer, such as the solid yellow gold, white gold, or rose gold. These grillz can also be iced out or made with different designs for that truly custom look. Jewelry comes in 10K-18K solid gold (yellow, white rose), depending on budget and preference. Pieces are often embellished with a variety of precious stones, including diamonds, as well as colored enamel. 10K: Most affordable and hardest gold offered, making it durable again scratches not NOT recommended for smokers as it tarnishes faster than other options. Noticable weight and tone difference compared to 18K but similar tone to 14K. 14K: Affordable, beautiful and long lasting! Plus best option for embedding diamonds and most precious stones. slight increase in price than 10K. 18K: Rich and warm in tone, and the ONLY option soft enough for Opal stones in your design. Pricier and easier to scratch than 14K & 10K.
  • Do I need a dentist to take my impressions?
    Our custom fitted grillz are removable. Although the process takes longer, it allows us to make the custom grillz fit the impression of your teeth so you are guaranteed the perfect look and fit of the grillz. With these grillz, I take detailed double impressions at your first visit for accuracy in your fit. I am a dental hygienist and have been taking impressions for over 10 years! I got you!   • Can you get a grill with missing teeth?
    We've done many grillz for people with missing teeth and its such a beautiful process and result. As long as the teeth on either side of the gap are healthy and strong enough to support the grill, we should be able to make you a grill. As each person’s mouth is unique, please contact us to see if we can work with your specific case.

You don’t need to be a dental professional to whiten clients teeth legally and ethically if you are trained properly.
